In its 30 years of existence, Bauchi State has had 13 Chief Executives, out of which only three were civilians.

Bauchi state is currently being governed by a democratically elected Governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda (Matawallen Bauchi).
The Emirates are headed by Emirs who are:-
1. HRH Alhaji (Dr) Suleiman Adamu, Emir of Bauchi (Chairman)
2. HRH Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Kabir Umar, Emir of Katagum,
3. HRH Alhaji Mohammed Manga III Emir of Misau,
4. HRH Alhaji Ahmadu Mohammed Wabi III, Emir of Jama’are
5. HRH Alhaji Yunusa Mohammed Danyaya, Emir of Ninhi
6. HRH Alhaji Bilyaminu Usman, Emir of Dass
All the Emirs are members of the state’s Traditional Ruling Council which is chaired by the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji (Dr.) Suleiman Adamu.
The State House of Assembly currently has 31 members representing their respective constituencies. Honorable Tanko Ibrahim Jalam is the current Speaker. Twelve members also represent the state at the Federal House of Representatives, while Alhaji Abubakar Maikafi, Alhaji Baba Tela and Alhaji Bala Adamu Kariya are the three Senators (respectively at the upper Legislative Chamber), representing Bauchi South, Bauchi North and Bauchi Central Senatoria Districts (of the National Assembly, the Senate).
Since the creation of the state the judiciary has performed creditably in the discharge of its responsibilities, with Justice Sabo Suleiman Darazo as the state chief Judge.
